Brief : Hassan Sherry is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Lebanese American University (LAU). He holds a PhD in Economics from SOAS, University of London, an MSc in Development Economics and Policy from the University of Manchester (UoM), and a BA in Economics from the American University of Beirut (AUB). His professional background includes both academia and research-based advocacy. Hassan has previously worked as a Research Officer at the Arab NGO Network for Development, where his research focused on the areas of trade and investment policy, tax and redistribution, as well as the role of international financial institutions (IFIs) in the Arab region.Hassan’s research focuses the following themes: Manufacturing and export competitiveness; industrial innovation and upgrading; global value chains; and IMF and World Bank Structural Adjustment Programs in the MENA region.
