Mid-Term Report of the UPR mechanism on human rights in Lebanon Dsicussions

ANND, in cooperation with its partners, organized a conference at the Basil Fleihan Institute to discuss the mid-term report of the universal periodic review mechanism on human rights in Lebanon. The meeting included sessions in which speakers participated:



- Lamia Al-Bassat, Director of the Basil Fleihan Financial and Economic Institute

-Kinja Janik, United Nations High Commissioner,

- Ziad Abdel Samad, Executive Director of ANND



Discussions addressed civil and political human rights issues with Jad Shahrour from the Samir Kassir Foundation, Fadl Fakih from the Lebanese Center for Human Rights, and Ghida Franjieh from the Legal Agenda.



The meeting also discussed the economic and social dimensions of the crisis with Hassan Sherri from Al-Shabaka and Tamam Marwa from the Social Movement.




The third session touched on the rights of persons with disabilities with Raed Ataya from the Nabaa Association, Imad El-Din Raif from the Lebanese Union for People with Physical Disabilities, women’s rights in Lebanon with Ghida Anani from the Abaad Foundation, and the rights of refugees with Malkar Khoury from the Research and Consulting House.



The meeting highlighted ongoing challenges and proposed actionable solutions to improve human rights in Lebanon.
