ANND at the IMF-WB Annual Meetings and CSPF 2024


This year, ANND participated in a series of impactful sessions at the IMF-WB Annual Meetings and Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF) 2024. 


Our sessions focused on pressing issues such as debt justice, social protection systems, progressive taxation, and the role of IMF policies on sustainable development. Below is a recap of each session:

Session Title:

Arab Voices for Sustainable Development Financing: Rights-Based Approaches to Addressing the Debt-Tax-Climate Crises

Session 1:

Taxing the Super-Rich, A Step Closer


Date: October 22nd, 2024

Summary: This session explored the importance of taxing wealth as a means to address inequality and fund essential public services. Panelists discussed the feasibility of a global tax on the super-rich and its role in reshaping global financial stability.

Pretend and Extend, or #CancelTheDebt? A Fork in the Road for the Debt Crisis

The Impact of IMF Policies on Arab Social Protection Systems: Proposing Tangible and Feasible Alternatives

Summary: This session examined the effects of IMF policies on social protection systems in the Arab region, proposing feasible alternatives that prioritize people’s economic and social rights over austerity measures.
