Youth Assembly at the Regional Meeting for Civil Society on Sustainable Development 2025

Youth Assembly at the Regional Meeting for Civil Society on Sustainable Development 2025

The Arab Youth Platform for Sustainable Development (AYPSD), Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND)'s Arab Youth Network (AYN), and the UN Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) organized the Youth Assembly 2025 in  Beirut, on the margins of ANND’s Regional Meeting for Civil Society on Sustainable Development.

Objective

In the lead-up to AFSD, children and youth gathered to frame their priorities and demands, as well as showcase how young people across the region are leading action on the SDGs. The Youth Assembly is a  self-organized space - convened by youth, for youth - which provided a dynamic platform for policy discussions to amplify the voices of young people across the Arab region in the context of sustainable development. This gathering aimed to foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen youth-led advocacy, and co-create actionable recommendations. It also seeked to ensure youth representation in key regional and global processes, including AFSD, ECOSOC Youth Forum and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), particularly in the wake of the UN’s shortage in funding for equitable youth participation in these events. Through this space, young leaders explored the region's most pressing challenges while collectively shaping a sustainable, inclusive, and just future.
