Webinar - The Architecture of Tyranny: Patriarchy as a Cornerstone of the State and Regime
At a historical juncture where brutality manifests itself as an instrument of destruction and a comprehensive violation of human and civil rights, we find ourselves facing an urgent need to analyze the organic link between political violence and the patriarchal system. Patriarchy is not merely a social behavior; it is a fundamental pillar of political systems and the very nature of the state.
Understanding "patriarchy" as a political system sheds light on a culture that venerates obedience and submission to those in power, in both the public and private spheres.
In this context, the Feminist Working Group of the Arab Network for NGOs organized a seminar entitled: "The Architecture of Despotism: Patriarchy as a Cornerstone of the State and Regime."
Speakers:
- Adib Nehme: Expert and Consultant in Development, Social Policies, and Poverty Reduction. And Advisor to ANND
-
Anas Al-Hasnawi: Expert in civil society and development issues
Moderator:
Gihan Abou Zeid - Researcher and Coordinator of the Feminist Working Group at ANND
The webinar deconstructed the symbols of domination and explored avenues for a masculinity reconciled with its humanity, far removed from the illusions of power.
