Pre-AFSD Regional Webinar Series | 2026
The Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), in collaboration with members of the Regional Sustainable Development Platform (ATUC, CAWTAR, HIC-HRLN, ARFPD, ANDE, and TI), successfully concluded the Pre-AFSD 2026 Regional Webinar Series, held on 28 April, 30 April, 5 May, and 7 May 2026.
The four-session series brought together experts, researchers, civil society actors, trade unionists, and regional stakeholders to collectively reflect on key development challenges facing the Arab region amid ongoing wars, economic crises, social inequalities, shrinking civic space, and climate injustice.
The discussions addressed four major themes:
| ● | Multilateralism and geopolitics in the Arab region |
| ● | Reclaiming social justice |
| ● | Reclaiming economic justice |
| ● | Revisiting climate justice |
Throughout the sessions, speakers emphasized the urgent need for rights-based, inclusive, and locally driven development pathways capable of addressing structural inequalities, debt burdens, austerity policies, environmental degradation, and the growing impacts of conflict and climate change across the region.
The webinar series also provided a regional space for dialogue and exchange ahead of the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) and broader global development processes, including discussions related to the post-2030 agenda and COP31.
We extend our sincere thanks to all moderators, speakers, participants, and partner organizations who contributed to the success of this regional dialogue series.
