Climate change is a global crisis, and the Arab region is identified as one of the regions most severely affected by climate change according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Climate change's impacts in the region include among others: Higher temperatures and more frequent and intense heat waves Sea-level rise that leads to losses of agricultural land and with adverse effects on fisheries Less rainfall that brings drought and further hydric stress to already scarce water resources Negative impacts on terrestrial ecosystems, including forests, mangroves and rangelands, risk of desertification New areas exposed to dengue, malaria, and other vector- and waterborne diseases affecting people's health and productivity due to changing rainfall and temperature patterns
