About the Project

The Arab region is facing serious sovereign debt challenges, with rising domestic and external debt and increasing servicing costs that divert resources away from essential public services. This burden hinders progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and weakens the protection of economic and social rights across the region. These challenges are compounded by fragile economic structures, regressive tax systems, and an inequitable international financial architecture.

The project “Arab Voices for a Progressive Financing for Development” seeks to mobilize civil society actors and stakeholders in the Arab region to advocate for financing for development policies that place human rights, social justice, sustainable development, and environmental protection at the center. It aims to protect communities from the impacts of debt crises, promote progressive and equitable taxation, and advance social and economic justice across the region.
